You Can Rock Your Fundraising!

For years I designed and managed programs. These programs created both revenue and advocates.  I was a programs person  and I wore that title like a badge of courage. In reality I was a program person  AND a fund raiser.

Shut your mouth…

I know– I never had thought of myself as a fundraiser, but the reality is I was! My programs raised millions of dollars in unrestricted revenue.

I was a fundraiser

The partnerships I managed  and supported  also brought in millions of dollars while increasing our exposure and impact.

I was a fundraiser!

I supported  and partnered with individual donors, foundations and corporations. I helped to move individuals down a clear path for greater engagement and impact.

I was a fundraiser!

Her are a few things I have learned:

  • The majority of donors are communitarian and investors, they tend to give towards the end of the year, for the tax write off. You need to have your ask and appeal calender set to go for the end of the year campaigns. You need to have these things in place NOW or you may miss out on much needed donations.
  • You want to send your letter at the end of the year, and you want to send it on a Monday or Tuesday, so they get it by Thursday or Friday, when your donors are  in a good mood.
  • Send an email to your donors the day after you send your appeal, telling them to look for it in the mail. This will be reminding them that you’ve sent the letter, and encourage them to look at it. But even emails only have a 9-15% open rate.
  • Follow up- Follow up- Follow up!  Even the strongest appeal letter can be thrown in the trash unread.

These tips and others  can be found in  a brand new product I helped to create .I’ve been working with three incredible fundraising and nonprofit masterminds to bring all of our knowledge together to help you get $50,000 in 30 days.

We  help you articulate your impact in a way that drives income.

Slow, Deep, Irreversible Work

Hey y'all! My friend, April Baskin, was on a panel in San Francisco recently and was talking about white supremacy, anti-semitism, and anti-Black racism. April mentioned a quote from an artist and organizer, Ricardo Levins Morales: “The work we do should be slow,...

Soft with each other hard on systems

Hello friends! Last week, I had the privilege and honor of speaking on two different panels about how the systems we find ourselves in are hard on every one of us. They are hard on us emotionally, physically, socially, and spiritually. Yet, we continue to fight to...

Is it ok to celebrate an inch? Takeaways from 2023
