WHITENESS AT WORK

Summer Series – Registration Closed

Say goodbye to “we’ve always done it that way” and “a good cultural fit”.

You’re not going to create racial equity doing what you’ve always done.

WHITE SUPREMACY IS BAKED INTO EVERY ORGANIZATION’S
CULTURE, PRACTICES, AND NORMS.

People, particularly white people, are realizing this in ways they never have before.

Organizations have a responsibility to learn from the lessons of the pandemic, the constant struggle for Black lives, and the use of state sanctioned violence.

REWORK // Let’s imagine new ways of working

We know from experience that urgent action without analysis causes harm. Spend July with us building your anti-racist analysis–as an individual, as teams, as leaders.

Together we can start to name and root out racial inequity, create collective power and imagine new ways of working.

This work is done best in community and we invite you to come with colleagues and learn together. Over the month of July we’ll spend several 75-minute long trainings together.

In between sessions you’ll get activities to do (solo or with your team) and resources to read and watch. All sessions will be recorded if you can’t attend live. You will also receive a curated resource list for each training.

The Curriculum:

Module 1

Introduction / Free webinar

June 11th

There is no organization that hasn’t learned a difficult truth about itself in the last few months.

This free webinar explored how white dominant culture manifests in our organizations and how it has been amplified due to Covid, anti-blackness and state violence.

If you registered and were not able to attend live, you will receive the recording via email.

Module 2

White Dominant Culture

July 1st

We’ll explore the complexities of identity and how folks are socialized into white dominant workplaces. We’ll name organizational practices and norms that are causing harm and racial inequity while sharing ways to mitigate them.

Module 3

Building anti-racist skills

July 15th

In this session we’re going to talk about the relationship of whiteness to power, relationship building, and leadership. We’ll teach you what it means to apologize and build accountability measures that center impact, not intent.

Module 4

Operationalizing Racial Equity

July 28th

What does it mean to build an organization that puts race equity at its core? Where do you start and how do you know if you’re making progress? We’ll share what the journey looks like and tactical advice on how to get started.

If I register for the other sessions, will there be enough space in the live meetings for everyone?

Yes. Everyone who signs up for the remaining modules will be able to get on live to the remainder of the sessions.

How long is each webinar?

75 minutes long.

Will the trainings be recorded?

Yes. After each session, you’ll receive access to the recording.

If I didn’t sign up for the Whiteness at Work webinar on June 11th will I get the recording?

Yes, everyone who signs up for these courses will get access to that webinar. You will want to watch it before the next class on July 1st.

When does enrollment close?

Enrollment closes on June 26, 2020, at midnight Eastern Time.

What if I only have 20 people. Should I buy two small organizational packages or one mid-sized?

The value of each seat in the organizational options is $149 per person (all four modules) and the price goes down the more seats you buy. Please base your payment selection on that number. If multiple smaller packs work better for your team and financial situation go that route.

My entire team is doing this together. How do you suggest we engage with the material together?

Great! We recommend you take this as a team and we’ll be giving you activities to do with each other in between sessions. Keep an eye on your inbox.

What do I do between now and the next webinar?

You’ll be receiving emails, pre-work and resources from us between sessions. Have your people sign up for email notifications.

Money is really tight right now. Is there a reduced rate or a payment plan?

We totally get it, please reach out to our team and we’ll figure something out.

What if I want to hire Adaway Group to work directly with my company?

A good place to start is our Equity Audit, which is designed to identify, uproot and transform organizational and systemic gaps inhibiting their diversity, equity and inclusion work. Through the Equity Audit process, we’ll work with you to determine how the culture, structure and relationships of the organization comprise––and compromise––your work.
